1954 Aston Martin DB2/4 Bertone Spider
The 1954 Aston Martin DB2/4 Bertone Spider is a rare and striking sports car, with only three examples built by Carrozzeria Bertone under the design direction of Franco Scaglione. Based on the DB2/4 chassis, it features a 2.9-liter inline-6 engine producing 140 horsepower, paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. This Spider is distinguished by its Italian styling, including exposed headlights, a creased body design, and elegant intake scoops, while still retaining Aston Martin’s signature grille shape.
Two of the three cars were competition-focused with minimalist interiors, while the third, chassis LML/505, was more luxuriously appointed with a full windscreen, intricate grille, bumpers, and a soft top. These vehicles were commissioned by American businessman Stanley H. Arnolt and showcased at events like the 1954 New York Auto Show. Despite their beauty and exclusivity, Aston Martin limited further collaboration to avoid competition with its standard lineup.
